About American Legion Post 8

American Legion Post 8 was established in 1921 making it one of the oldest active post in Alabama. We are a post of about 300 members including Legionnaires, Ladies Auxiliary, Son's of the Legion and Legion Riders. Each of the organizations within our family, working together, makes our post the best it can be. We strive to be involved in both projects that benefit our veterans and our community.

Post 8 is located in the beautiful community of Guntersville Alabama. We're nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and surrounded on three side by Guntersville Lake. Our physical address is 1900 Henry Street, Guntersville, Alabama. Please see the map below for more detailed directions.

Guntersville Post 8 General Membership Meeting is the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We host a dinner at 6:00 p.m. with the meeting following at 7:00 p.m.

Post 8 Canteen

Our Post Canteen is open seven days a week. Daily hours are as follows:

Monday through Thursday: Noon - 10:00 p.m.
Friday: Noon - 11:00 p.m.
Saturday through Sunday: 11:00 a.m. - Midnight

 

Our post canteen is open the hours above for all our members and their guests.

We constantly provide entertainment for our members. On Friday evenings, come join us for Karaoke with Tony Richards and of course each Sunday evening we feature the band "New Southern Station". We also host Riders Day on Sunday during the day from 11:00 a.m. til 5:00 p.m. Please be sure to check the events page and calendar for special events not listed here and the times the regularly scheduled events begin.

Happy Hour is daily 4:00 p.m. til 6:00 p.m. We also host drink specials during other events.

Our bar manager is Rena Pinto and she along with our staff will make you feel very welcome visiting our post.

Please note on the third Tuesday each month the Post Canteen closes to non-member at 6:00 p.m. until close so that our members can enjoy dinner and the General Membership meeting that follows.
